Veterans Benefits Live Will Be Held This Month!

Cary American Legion Post 67 is a vibrant hub for veterans and their families, offering resources, fellowship, and support in the heart of Cary. Founded in 2010, the post focuses on values like integrity, respect, and compassion while helping veterans transition to civilian life. Members take part in programs that connect them with education, job training, and health resources, all while building a strong sense of community among those who have served.

This September the post is hosting its Veterans Benefit Live series, a multi-day event where veterans can meet face-to-face with VA representatives for help with claims, appeals, and benefits. Beyond events, Post 67 encourages residents to get involved through volunteer opportunities, donations, and membership. The post continues to be a cornerstone of service and camaraderie, ensuring that Cary’s veterans receive the recognition and assistance they deserve.

Restaurant Spotlight: Duck Donuts!

Duck Donuts in Cary has partnered with local small business Little BEEst for a limited time offer to celebrate National Bee month. Duck Donut’s reputation for warm, made-to-order donuts hits the spot every time. This September, they're turning up the flavor with a limited-time collab that brings a little sweet and a little heat to honor our nation’s pollinators.

The sauce is called Little BEEst Scorpion Red, but don’t let the words ā€œscorpionā€ deter you. The flavor palette is sweet on the front with a little heat on the back: there’s no burning sensation in your mouth.

I negotiated a buy-1-get-1 deal on donuts for Cary Digest readers! Just show them this email at the counter to get the deal.

Available only during September, so grab a friend and taste the buzz at Duck Donuts Cary!

  • Maple Bacon Blaze Donut: smoky bacon, maple glaze, and a drizzle of hot honey

  • Sandwich Sizzle Add-On: upgrade your breakfast sanchwich with a splash of sweet and spicy

Town Updates

Parks for Pollinators Bioblitz

Cary is joining communities nationwide in the Parks for Pollinators Bioblitz, part of the National Recreation and Parks Association’s annual campaign to support pollinator health. This event highlights the importance of bees, butterflies, and other pollinators by encouraging residents to connect with nature, document local species, and learn how to protect vital habitats. By participating, the community helps raise awareness of the pollinator crisis while promoting sustainability practices and native landscapes.

The Bioblitz kicks off on September 13 and invites residents to use the iNaturalist app to record and share their observations from local parks. This hands-on project is designed for all ages and experience levels, making it a fun and educational way to engage with the outdoors. Cary’s involvement underscores the town’s commitment to environmental stewardship and provides a meaningful opportunity for residents to contribute to conservation right in their own backyard.

Community Events

Bands, Bites, and Boats at Bond Park

Cary’s Bands, Bites, and Boats series brings together live music, local food, and lakeside fun at the Bond Park Boathouse. On the first Friday of each month from April through October, guests can enjoy free concerts, food trucks, and the chance to rent paddle boats and kayaks after hours. The event has become a favorite spot for families and friends to gather, relax by the water, and experience the charm of Bond Park in the evening.

On September 5 the spotlight will be on the 2DIGH4 Duo performing from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Food will be provided by Mr. Pueblos Tacos and Chic n Que, with craft beer from Fortnight Brewing rounding out the offerings. Whether you want to float on the lake, picnic on the lawn, or simply listen to live music as the sun sets, the evening promises a welcoming community atmosphere.
