šŸ“˜Two Newsletters in One

See you next week!

How’s your Tuesday going, Cary?

I have an important update for you: there will not be a Cary Digest issue on Friday

I’ll be out of town on vacation, and after writing over a hundred consecutive issues without taking a day off, I’ll be breaking my streak.

Don’t worry, though: this issue is extra informative to make up for it. It includes events that both issues would cover, so you’re not missing out on any events or things to do. As for news, I’ll cover anything that happens over the week in the next Tuesday issue.

See you next week!

Anyway, here’s what you can expect in Today’s issue:

  • Get your free tree

  • Public Safety Day

  • Latino Art Event

  • A WEEK’s worth of events!

Register for Your Free Native Tree

Cary residents can once again take part in the My Tree, Our Tree program, which is now open for registration. This free community forestry initiative offers five types of native trees—Fringe Tree, Silky Dogwood, Spice Bush, Basswood, and Black Gum—available while supplies last.

Tree pickup will be held on November 8 at the Herb Young Community Center, and the program is open to all Cary citizens. Don’t miss your chance to add a little more green to your yard and help keep Cary thriving for future generations.

Community Events

Apex Latino Arts Festival

Downtown Apex is about to come alive with color, music, and culture at the Apex Latino Arts Festival. Taking place at the Historic Depot and throughout downtown, this annual celebration highlights the rich heritage of Latin America. Guests can enjoy a parade of flags, vibrant folklórico dance performances, mariachi music, salsa, and cultural booths representing countries from across Central and South America. Local food vendors will be serving authentic bites, making this a full-sensory experience that blends flavor, music, and community pride.

Beyond the performances and food, the festival creates a welcoming space for families with kids’ crafts, activities, and cultural storytelling. It’s an immersive way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and to connect with neighbors while learning more about Latin traditions. Whether you’re there for the live bands, the art, or the food, you’ll leave feeling like you’ve traveled without ever leaving Apex.

Cary Public Safety Day

Cary’s Public Safety Day is more than just sirens and flashing lights—it’s a chance for the whole community to meet the men and women who keep the town safe. Families can climb into fire trucks, explore police cruisers, and even see EMS vehicles up close. Hosted on South Academy Street in downtown Cary, the event mixes serious demonstrations with plenty of family fun: think food trucks, inflatable games, and interactive exhibits.

The best part? It’s all free. Parents will appreciate the focus on education—kids walk away understanding safety in a way that’s exciting instead of intimidating. Add in giveaways, meet-and-greets with first responders, and hands-on activities, and you’ve got an event that manages to be equal parts fun fair and community classroom. Cary turns safety into a celebration, and it’s a can’t-miss Saturday outing for families.
