Town Operations Return to Normal Today

Source: WRAL
Cary is moving back toward normal operations following Winter Storm Gianna, with most town services resuming Tuesday, February 3. Cary Town Hall and all staffed facilities will reopen, and the Citizen’s Convenience Center will open at 8 a.m. Curbside collection will run one day late this week, and residents are asked to keep carts off the street when possible to allow crews to finish clearing remaining icy areas.
Transit services will also begin scaling back in. GoCary service ended at 5 p.m. Monday, February 2, and will resume at 10 a.m. Tuesday for fixed routes and Tier 1 Door to Door service. Tier 2 and Tier 3 Door to Door service will remain suspended. While conditions have improved, drivers should still watch for slick spots, especially on shaded roads, bridges, and neighborhood streets. Town crews will continue monitoring problem areas as Cary wraps up its storm response.

Restaurant Spotlight: The Refreshery!
The Refreshery in Cary is the kind of spot you pop into once and then start building errands around. It feels bright and easy from the moment you walk in, with a menu that leans hard into fresh, feel good food without being preachy about it. Whether you are grabbing something quick or actually sitting down to reset for a minute, it has that calm, friendly energy that makes you want to slow down just a bit.
What really stands out is how everything tastes clean and intentional, like someone actually thought about how you would feel after eating it. It is a go to for juices, smoothies, and bowls that manage to be both refreshing and filling, which is a rare win. If you are in Cary and want something light, satisfying, and genuinely enjoyable, The Refreshery is an easy yes.

Town Updates
Wake County Returns to School Virtually on Wednesday Amid Black Ice Concerns
Wake and Durham county schools will shift to remote learning Wednesday due to concerns about black ice on area roads. District leaders say the decision is aimed at keeping students, staff, and bus drivers safe as temperatures remain below freezing.
Parents acknowledged the move can be inconvenient but largely supported the call. School officials noted that even delays would still put buses on potentially icy roads across large, complex transportation networks. While safety drove the decision, some students had a simpler reaction, saying they would rather be outside enjoying the snow than logging on for class.
