Regency Office Park Applies for Residential Zoning

Source: Triangle Business Joural

Charlotte-based developer, Spectrum Companies, has filed a zoning request to allow residential apartments at Regency Park, a south Cary office hub with high vacancy rates. The proposal would permit up to 315 units across the two parcels on Regency Woods Place with 5% of the units reserved for moderate-income residents. The plan also includes a 10,000-square-foot gathering space. It’s unclear whether the existing office building will be demolished.

Demand for housing has surged in Cary, while office vacancies in the area are above 20%. The rezoning request is the latest in a series of similar efforts in which developers are eyeing out dated office parks for residential redevelopment.

The Soccer Tournament Returns

Source: AB

Cary is gearing up for a big week of soccer as The Soccer Tournament (TST) returns to WakeMed Soccer Park from May 27 through June 1. The fast-moving 7-on-7 event brings together 76 teams from around the world, all competing in men’s, women’s, and a new co-ed division with a $1 million prize on the line. Organizers say this will be the biggest year yet. More than 2,000 players are heading to the Triangle for six days of nonstop action.

There’s plenty for fans to get excited about, from international clubs to local teams like the North Carolina Courage, plus celebrity-backed squads from names like Gerard Piqué, Sergio Agüero, and J. Cole. The women’s bracket features returning champions and U.S. soccer stars, while the new co-ed division adds a fun twist, including a matchup between teams led by Landon Donovan and Hope Solo. Championship games wrap things up on June 1. Tickets and schedules are available at the link below.
