Duke Health Breaks Ground in Cary

Duke Health officially broke ground this week on a brand-new inpatient hospital campus in Cary. The projectās first phase will include an emergency department, surgical and imaging services, and a limited number of inpatient beds.
According to Duke Health CEO Craig Albanese, the expansion is part of their mission to bring high-quality care closer to where people live and work.
The new facility is designed to keep pace with Caryās booming population and is part of a long-term plan for an 85-acre medical campus. Once fully built, the site will support about 1,600 jobs.
The building is expected to be complete in 2027.

š Cary & Morrisville Hold Vigil for Air India Crash Victims
In the wake of the devastating Air India crash that claimed over 240 lives, the Cary and Morrisville communities came together this week to honor the victims and offer prayers of healing.
The vigil, held at the SV Temple of North Carolina, began with a two-minute silence followed by Hindu chants and a prayer led by the templeās priest. For many, the tragedy hit painfully close to homeāsome temple members are from the very region in India where the crash occurred.
āItās a tragedy for those affected here, from their home, their motherland,ā said Morrisville Council Member Steve Rao. With nearly half of Morrisvilleās population identifying as South Asian, the impact is deeply felt across the community.
A second memorial service is scheduled for this Sunday at the same temple on Aviation Parkway, with over 1,000 people expected to attend.
