New Black Creek Greenway Bridge Opens

Phase 2 of Cary’s Black Creek Greenway restoration from Livingstone Drive to Weston Parkway is complete and ncluded the construction of a new 285-foot, weathered-steel, pedestrian bridge crossing Cary Parkway, with built-in lighting illuminating the path for evening strolls and biking.

Greenway improvements will continue with Phase 3’s anticipated completion in late 2026, part of Cary’s efforts to expand the over 100 mile long greenway system funded in part by the 2019 Shaping Cary’s Tomorrow Bond Referendum and Locally Administered Projects Program (LAPP). Check for closings and detours on the Town of Cary web site as the next phase rolls out.

Maynard Road Reopens after Amtrak Crash

Traffic has returned to normal on Maynard Road following a crash on Wednesday afternoon just past 2pm. An Amtrak train traveling from Charlotte hit a stalled construction trailer that had detached from a truck at the Maynard Road and East Chatham crossing just northeast of the downtown station. 6 passengers sustained minor injuries with 4 treated at the hospital. Northeast Maynard Road was closed for seven hours as emergency crews from Cary, Amtrak, and CSX responded to clear debris.

Restaurant Spotlight: Enrigo Italian Bistro

Nothing’s more satisfying for Cary restaurant goers, than returning to a place that’s been around seemingly forever to find that not only has it improved, it’s leaped to the top of the list for an overall great dining experience. Enrigo Italian Bistro at Waverly is THAT place. With doors swung open wide, and tables placed outside to enjoy the longer days of spring and summer dining “al fresco”, Enrigo offers authentically-prepared Italian food, outstanding service, and a terrific atmosphere.

The menu includes delicious versions of the usual pastas, pizzas, and clazones you’d expect, along with a few welcome regional specialities and a distinction between dried and fresh pasta dishes not seen on any other menu in Cary. It can get busy so reservations are helpful. Catering is available.
