South Hills Development Update
Updated redevelopment plans for South Hills, Cary’s oldest mall, now include a partnership with Carolina Ballet. The future of the site was uncertain after Cary voters rejected a bond package in 2024 to fund a large sports complex. According to Carolina Ballet CEO, Zalman Raffael, Carolina Ballet will own about half of the 70,000 square feet former car dealership on the site and will convert its space into studios, administrative offices and storage.
A representative from developer Loden Properties, Henry Ward, said the ballet studios will act as a hub and are part of a larger plan to bring the fine arts, retail, and open spaces together for public enjoyment with a planned opening in 2028. He added that there could be opportunities for some of the previous small business tenants to be a part of South Hills in the future as plans for the other buildings take shape.
How One Wellness Brand Is Helping America Sleep Better
You know the importance of sleep, but actually getting enough is easier said than done. One wellness brand decided to study the problem and whether CBD could help.
CBD users have long reported feeling calmer and sleeping better, whether taking the compound by itself or with related hemp-derived compounds like CBN and THC. But rumor isn’t research, so CBDistillery conducted two sleep studies: a 2021 study into CBD and CBN, and a 2023 study with technology app Releaf into CBD, CBN and THC.
Study participants who took CBD and CBN reported falling asleep easier and sleeping an hour longer per night, on average. Study participants who took THC as well as CBD and CBN reported improved quality of sleep and waking up more refreshed the next morning.

Restaurant of the Week
Bosphorus Turkish and Mediterranean Cuisine
We’ve raved about Bosphorus before, but it’s worth repeating that it consistently offers the most authentically delicious Turkish food in town. Pop in for lunch or dinner and you’ll be greeted like an old friend. They’ve got the Mediterranean classics like falafel, gyros, and grape leaves covered and it’s well worth exploring the menu for Turkish options you won’t find any place else.
The vibe is cozy yet lively, and the portions are generous enough for sharing. The menu includes pizza, wraps, and a notable number of vegetarian options. If you’d like to support a local, family-owned business and leave fully sated, Bosphorus is the place.
