NC AG Jeff Jackson Announces Major Antitrust Trial Versus Live Nation

North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson announced that the state has begun a major antitrust trial against Live Nation, accusing the company of using monopoly power to drive up ticket prices and add excessive fees. According to the announcement, the case argues that Live Nation has used its dominance in the concert industry to charge inflated prices, pressure venues not to work with rival ticketing platforms, and force artists to use its promoters in order to access major arenas.

For music fans in places like Cary, the outcome could affect what it costs to see shows locally. Venues such as Koka Booth Amphitheatre regularly host major touring acts, and critics say the current system leaves venues and fans with few alternatives when tickets go on sale. If the state succeeds in court, officials say it could open the door to more competition in ticketing and potentially lower prices for concertgoers across North Carolina.

Restaurant Spotlight:

La Grassa Pastificio is a small Italian pasta shop and restaurant in Cary that focuses on fresh, handmade pasta. The menu changes regularly but usually includes dishes like tagliatelle, rigatoni, and stuffed pastas made in house, along with simple sauces that let the pasta do the work. You can also buy fresh pasta by the pound to cook at home, plus Italian pantry staples like olive oil, sauces, and imported goods.

The space is casual and counter service, so it works well for a quick lunch or picking up dinner on the way home. Locals tend to come for the rotating pasta specials and the fact that everything tastes freshly made rather than heavy or over sauced. If you like straightforward Italian food and good pasta without the fuss, La Grassa is one of the better spots in Cary to check out.
