Cary Revamps Greenways with New Artistic Striping and Signage!

Cary is rolling out new initiatives this month to improve safety and enhance the experience along its greenway system. Through mid April, the town will add artistic centerline striping along portions of the Black Creek and White Oak Creek greenways, especially near curves and underpasses where visibility is limited. The goal is to make the trails safer for pedestrians and cyclists while also creating a more distinctive visual identity. Temporary lane closures may occur during installation, but the greenways will remain open. At the same time, Cary will install 10 new eco counters along some of its busiest trails to better understand how people use the system and help guide future planning decisions.

  • Artistic striping will be added along sections of Black Creek and White Oak Creek greenways

  • The design improves visibility and adds a unique visual element to the trails

  • Ten eco counters will track pedestrian and bicycle traffic, including direction and speed in some cases

  • The devices do not collect images or personal information

  • Data collected will help the town analyze usage patterns and plan future improvements
