Severe Heat Advisory Warning for TODAY

A severe heat advisory has been issued for Cary on Tuesday, July 8, with forecasters warning of dangerous temperatures and high humidity throughout the day. The National Weather Service expects highs in the mid-90s, with the heat index—how hot it actually feels—reaching up to 105°F.
The advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and covers all of Wake County. Officials are urging residents to prepare for the intense heat, which may cause disruptions to outdoor plans and strain on local infrastructure. Scattered afternoon thunderstorms are also possible, which could bring temporary relief but may result in localized flooding and strong winds.
🎾 Cary’s Tennis Scene Shines: Vidmanova Captures ITF W100K Crown
In an electrifying Sunday final at the Cary Tennis Classic, rising star Darja “Dasha” Vidmanova clinched the women's singles title with a commanding 6–3, 6–1 victory over American qualifier Monika Ekstrand. The 22‑year‑old Czech extended her impressive streak to 15 consecutive wins on the ITF circuit, claiming her seventh career ITF title—and her third straight, following triumphs at Santo Domingo W35K and Sumter W75K earlier this summer. Vidmanova's dominant performance on Cary's hard courts solidifies her status as one of the tour’s top up-and-coming talents.
