Hello Cary!

Spring has officially arrived, and our community is buzzing with fresh energy. I hope you’re enjoying the warmer days and finding time to explore everything our town has to offer. This weekend is our first spring weekend, and there are a ton of great ways to get out and experience Cary.

Before we get into the main newsletter, I wanted to get some feedback and poll you on something: do you want to see more local restaurants sponsor/partner up with Cary Digest? Hundreds of you have messaged me about your favorite places to eat, and I’d love to explore how I can get more local Cary residents benefits at local Cary restaurants!

Cary Rolls Out a New Bike Plan

Shared lane markings (or “sharrows”) on a Cary road highlight the town’s efforts to improve bike safety and connectivity. Cary is updating its Bike Plan to create a safer, more comprehensive network for cyclists of all ages. The plan’s goal is to build a multi-modal network by filling gaps in the current bike system and identifying priority corridors. This means more bike lanes, greenway connections, and street improvements to ensure it’s safe and convenient for everyone to bike around town. Benefits to the community include healthier travel options, less traffic congestion, and a greener, more active Cary.

To make this happen, the Town is seeking public input. Open House – Bike Plan & Parks Plan: Next Tuesday (March 25) at the Cary Senior Center, drop in between 1:30–3:00 PM or 5:30–7:00 PM to learn about the Bike Plan (along with the Parks & Rec master plan) and share your ideas. You can also chime in online by visiting the Bike Cary engagement portal to take a short survey and review the plans. This is a great chance for locals to help shape a bike-friendly future for Cary.

Charity of the Week: Note in the Pocket

This week we're spotlighting Note in the Pocket, a Raleigh-based nonprofit that serves Wake County, including Cary, by providing clothing to students experiencing homelessness or low income.

Their mission is simple but powerful: ensure that children are dressed with dignity and confidence so they can focus on learning. Schools and social workers submit referrals, and Note in the Pocket responds by delivering personalized clothing wardrobes packed with care.

How to Help:

  • Volunteer to sort, fold, or pack clothes at their warehouse in Raleigh.

  • Donate gently-used or new clothing, especially kids’ sizes and shoes.

  • Sponsor a student or organize a clothing drive through your workplace or neighborhood.
